The holiday of Shavuot celebrates the revelation of receiving the Torah at Mount Sinai. It is the culmination of the journey of liberation begun on Passover. Receiving Torah is a continuing process for each generation, each year brings an opportunity to hear, as the first time, the Torah speaking to and through each one of us.
This year, when the need of the world for repair is so great, our own need to open ourselves to receive Torah is all the more urgently felt.
Our kavannah (intention) is to clear our minds and to open our hearts in order to understand anew the Torah of our ancestors, and to bring into the world now the Torah for this moment in time. With excercises, lectures, practices and discussion, we will prepare for and experience the Sinai of today.
