SHARKS! Why is the shark population declining and where have all they all gone? Andy Nosal of Scripps Institution of Oceanography will be talk about how shark populations worldwide have declined by 90% and another 100 million sharks are killed every year. Could our negative opinion of sharks be fueling their decline? Come learn why sharks are disappearing from our oceans, why we cannot afford to lose them and how we can save them. The answer may be as simple (and as complicated) as changing public opinion of sharks. What if we loved sharks the way we love dolphins, seals and turtles? Is that even possible? Would sharks then stand a chance? Andy Nosal is a resident expert during the Birch Aquarium's Shark Week and a graduate student at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego.Friends of the Encinitas Library
