Benita Bike’s DanceArt presents an interactive dance performance on Saturday, December 8, 2:00 p.m., at the Lake View Terrace Library, 12002 Osborne Street in Lake View Terrace. Adults, children, and seniors will enjoy discovering the beauty and power of dance at Lake View Terrace’s attractive “eco” library. This is a FREE performance, supported in part by a grant from the City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department.
Libraries are great places to share dance. People come to libraries to learn new things, so when they come to a dance show at a library, they’re already in the right frame of mind to open up to the dance experience. Benita Bike’s DanceArt Company specializes in dance outreach programs in addition to regular concert programming, so this company knows how to introduce the soul of dance to audiences.
Benita Bike’s choreography stands at the crossroads of past and present, blending the music and sensibilities of the past with evocative contemporary movement. This Lake View Terrace performance will feature DanceArt’s “Currents and Eddies” to guitar music by famed American composer Lou Harrison and “Southern Memories,” set to traditional songs and of the southeastern United States.
