Written and developed for the 2008 Boulder International Fringe Festival, “A Brief History of Intercourse” tells the tale of a passionate young heroine and her libidinous adventures in search of happily ever after. Assisted by her straight-shooting Fairy Godfather, our heroine embarks on an enlightening journey, encountering a vanishing prince, an enchanted dog, exploding buildings, mysterious poison, roof top bliss, punk rockers and the ghosts of lovers past. Combining whimsical physical comedy, historical fact, and bittersweet personal narrative, Shana Cordon has crafted a hilarious & incisive look at contemporary sexual relations which asks, “What’s a girl to do when the institutions and rules of the past 5,000 years have crumbled?” “A Brief History of Intercourse” is a brave and unflinching look at the agony and ecstasy inherent in the search for true intimacy. The show aims to bring compassion and a few good laughs to sexuality and our human foibles.
