One of Indonesia's most accomplished puppet masters, Purbo Asmoro, is joined by a twenty-piece gamelan orchestra in this retelling of a key story from the ancient epic of the Mahabharata wars: the final battle between King Duryodana and his nemesis Bima. Music director Wakidi Dwidjomartono, who performed at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in 1991, leads an orchestra of prominent gamelan musicians from Boston, New York, and Washington.
