SHADES OF JAZZ ON NOIR and THE FREAK LIP KILL SEXTET @ BOWERY POETRY CLUB May 16, 2009

"Shades of Jazz on Noir" is a montage of gangster molls and fallen women from the classic noir tradition. During the film, the Freak Lip Kill Sextet will improvise music providing drama, pathos and romance. Shades of Jazz on Noir literally reframes iconic/fatal women with the montage, the modern voice-over and the music.Instead of the classic soundtrack, a very modern accompaniment by theFreak Lip Kill Sextet with amazing avant-garde artists: Herb Robertson, Angelica Sanchez, Tanya Kalmanovitch, Tony Malaby, Ratzo
Harris, and Jay Rosen. The marriage of film and music plays both with and against the genre.
