SFAI Hosts Global Lens Film Festival - 'Almost Brothers (Quase dois irmãos)' September 20, 2006

About the Film
This poignant drama is the tale of two men from opposite sides of the tracks: white, middle-class Miguel and black, favela-dweller Jorge meet as boys through their fathers’ shared passion for music. Their friendship is renewed during a lengthy incarceration in the 1970s. And they meet again in contemporary Rio, when Miguel, a government official, visits Jorge, an imprisoned drug lord. Director Lúcia Murat weaves their story against 50 years of political and social upheaval in Brazil, offering a perspective on the lowest rung of society and observing that these men have more in common than they ever realized.
