SFAI's on-line gallery features work by this year's graduates.

San Francisco Art Institute is proud to present the work of graduating SFAI students in the Master of Fine Arts Graduate Exhibition at Herbst Pavilion at Fort Mason from May 19 to May 26. The MFA Graduate Exhibition opening reception, Vernissage, will take place on Friday, May 18 from 6:00 to 9:00pm. The reception is free and open to the public.

The work in the Master of Fine Arts Graduate Exhibition is the result of an intense period of collaboration, investigation, and artistic development. The range of interests, media, and approaches make this exhibition an exciting and challenging overview of the directions in contemporary art today. The Master of Fine Arts Graduate Exhibition also includes a film component. On May 19 at 7:00pm, there will be a screening of films created by SFAI's MFA candidates at the SFAI Lecture Hall. A reception at 6:00pm precedes the screening.

Fundamentally, education at SFAI is a process of dialogue and reflection. It is creative and generative, self-directed, yet collaborative; it reflects the role artists play in shaping our collective understanding. The Master of Fine Arts Graduate Exhibition offers the opportunity for students to reflect on this process and to present their work in the context of the larger social world. This exhibition not only represents for each student the culmination of a challenging program, but also provides each artist with the valuable experience of participating in a public exhibition. In addition, these exhibitions present some of the most provocative new artists in the Bay Area to the community.
