The San Francisco Film Society’s SF360 Film+Club, a monthly social screening series, returns on Tuesday, February 12, at 7:00 pm at Mezzanine (444 Jessie Street at Mint) with Metric: Live at Metropolis, the dynamite concert film that blasts the audience straight into Montreal’s Metropolis concert hall for 90 minutes of high energy, smart and sophisticated rock.
“If I could be anywhere on February 12, it would be at Mezzanine dancing to Metric,” says Sean Uyehara of the Film Society.
Live at Metropolis captures the Canadian-born New Wave/electro/indie/awesome band's live show, specifically a performance from Montreal’s renowned Metropolis concert hall last fall. Metric’s live shows are a thing to be experienced. The music site PopMatters described the live performance as "a dance-rock blastoff. . . . They're no longer just-sorta political popskotchers; they've become activist musicians with a point to get across." Produced by guitarist Jimmy Shaw and featuring explosive singer Emily Haines, Live at Metropolis also includes music videos of the singles “Monster Hospital,” “Poster of a Girl” and “Empty” from the band's breakout 2005 album Live It Out.
Doors open at Mezzanine at 7:00 pm, program starts at 7:30 pm. Complimentary tasting of Kissui Vodka will begin at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $8 at the door or $5 if reserved in advance by emailing info@sf360.org. Must be 21+ to attend.
SF360 Film+Club is presented by the San Francisco Film Society, Mezzanine and Rehab, and is sponsored by SF Weekly and Kissui Vodka.
