Chrysalis is a one-act solo variety show written and performed by Evangeline Crittenden that explores the question: What's a little sister to do without her big brother? Through fragments of a story about a sister who loses her brother, original music and a whole bunch of characters including a puppet named, "The Grief Monster," Crittenden takes the audience on a journey through loss to recovery at the crossroads of grief and going-up.

The show starts at 8 PM. The pop-up kitchen opens @ 7pm with sushi from HayaHon. We encourage you to arrive early, to ensure a seat!

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

This show features Evangeline Crittenden, an actress, comedian and writer based in Oakland, California. Crittenden has worked as a collaborative producer, writer and performer for Tricycle Theatre (NYC) and Giddy Multitude Vaudeville Co. She is currently a member of Oakland's premiere all-female sketch comedy group Femikaze. She played the title role in the world premiere of the off-off Broadway musical, Lotsa' Luck Lucy Lake. In August, she performed Chrysalis at the New York International Fringe Festival. You can see her on the internet as Billie in “Sam and Billie Date,” a new webseries. Chrysalis is her first solo show.

The show was developed and co-directed by a team of creative consultants. Julia Heitner is a graduate of University of California at Santa Cruz theatre department and has studied Indian Dance and Theater in Hyderabad, India. She is currently co-artistic director of San Francisco Theater Pub. Ben Prusiner is a director and puppeteer based in New York City, currently working with Red Bull Theater and recently seen backstage assisting with several Mabou Mines shows. Barbara Segal has taught theater for many years and founded Stage 3 Theater Company in Sonora,
California.

ABOUT SAN FRANCISCO THEATER PUB
Founded by Stuart Bousel, Victor Carrion, Bennett Fisher and Brian Markley in the fall of 2009, the SF Theater Pub operates out of Cafe Royale (800 Post Street, San Francisco at Leavenworth) and plays on traditional theater “dark nights” like Mondays and Tuesdays. The San Francisco Theater Pub is committed to premiering re-imagined classics, original work and workshops, and general creativity of the rehearsed and scripted variety in a casual bar environment where theater artists and audience can mix and work.
