From bells to bongos to midnight stillness — ever since the manger this season has brought us sounds as well as silence. Fly with us from 17th century Spain, through England, Latvia, Romania, Sweden, and Haiti to 21st century North America for both joyous celebration and quiet contemplation of this holiday.
Featuring the world premiere of Richard Feliciano’s Angel Musicians, based on Susani, an early German carol dating from the 14th century.
The program includes works by Early Music composers Byrd and Nanino; more contemporary works by Desamours, Jansons, Joubert, Karai, Lemacher, Nordqvist, Paynter, Pilkington, Pinkham, Sametz, Vald, and Willan; and 3 world premieres — from locals Tina Harrington and 2010 Composer-In-Residence Richard Feliciano, and Australian Composer-Not-in-Residence Stephen Leek.
