See what a spring day in 1855 was like while exploring the fort's buildings and visiting with re-enactors in 1850s attire who will be waiting to share their knowledge and skills with you. Hands-on activities for the whole family including 1800s games, butter churning, laundry techniques and more! Also, explore the new special exhibit "Hats, Bonnets and Caps at Fort Nisqually". Headwear was an essential part of dress for people of all classes in the 19th century. Literally hundreds of hats, bonnets and caps were on inventories of incoming goods to Fort Nisqually. Come see the styles that were both fashionable and practical in the 1850s. Located in Tacoma's Point Defiance Park, Fort Nisqually Living History Museum is a restoration of the Hudson's Bay Company outpost on the Puget Sound where visitors can journey back in time to the mid-nineteenth century.
