PUYALLUP, WA – The nation’s largest event for sewing enthusiasts, Sewing and Stitchery Expo, will be held March 3-6, 2011, at the Puyallup Fair & Events Center in Puyallup, Washington. The Expo is the foremost venue for the home sewing industry attracting leading authorities including Nancy Zieman, Mary Mulari, Ricky Tims and Pati Palmer.
The Expo, a not-for-profit educational event managed by Washington State University, provides something for everyone with more than 100 seminars daily, hands-on workshops, a variety of style shows, and 400+ booths exhibiting the latest fabrics, tools, and supplies. Joanne Ross, Expo Director, says, "it's like planning a party for 30,000 of your very best friends. We have guests from every State, Canada, Australia and Europe."
The Sewing and Stitchery Expo is an annual event conceived in the early 1980’s as the industry shifted from sewing as an economic necessity to a popular and rapidly growing hobby. After 27 years, the event has developed a large following. Attendees all over the world plan their annual calendar around the Sewing & Stitchery Expo.
There is a huge vendor floor, a non-stop roster of demos on the Free Stage, and professional models on the Expo Runway, presenting six different FREE style shows every day. In addition, there are daily hands-on classes where participants can learn a new technique and leave with a finished project.
“One of the most rewarding aspects of the Expo is watching attendees greet each other year after year and to see a new generation of young sewers emerge,” Ross reports. “This year, our Sunday charity event is the "Coats & Clark Pro-Am Sewing Exhibition" -- and all the proceeds will go to Mary Bridge Children's Hospital. The charity event allows attendees to interact with the Expo Sewing Stars -- who will be mentoring sewing "rookies".
