Every so often an artist emerges on the scene as fully formed, distinct vocals, a palpable presence, and crafted novel lyrics where the songs truly belong to the singer. Seth Glier joins the rank of artists with such an emergence. This singer/songwriter/pianist, born and raised in rural Western Massachusetts, delivers an organic performance rich in emotion and intellect. Gliers blend of smooth folk and bluesy soul is a sound all his own. Sharing the stage with the like of John Mayer, Shemekia Copeland, and Martin Sexton, Gliers accomplishments far surpass his age. He has sold thousands of records and has performed hundreds of shows throughout the east coast including three sold-out nights at the Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton Mass, to performing for over 25,000 people on the National Mall in Washington D.C. Receiving a scholarship in songwriting from Berklee College of Music, his thought provoking lyrics have been recognized by Lizz Wright, Peter Mulvey, and folk super-group Redbird. "His lyrics dont just tell stories; they paint a masterpiece of pictures. The pictures are fresh, vibrant, and thoughtful," said Tower Records. Seths energy and passion conveyed during live shows leave listeners talking for days after his performance. "Glier takes his audience to a place that is unknown without his intoxicating groove," wrote Performer Magazine. Seths first record, Why, sold out within three days of its release in 2004. Seths highly anticipated sophomore release, Space (2005), has been a hit among listeners. "The CD showcases his creativity and energy, and addresses the social, political, and economic problems within the world today," says The Recorder. Seths newest album, Sojourn, will be released in June of 2007 and is already creating buzz. Produced by Michael Gregory (Mick Jaggar, Carlos Santana, Steve Winwood) and engineer by Angelo Qualia (Luther Vandross, Madonna), Sojourn leads the listener down the trail of love both lost and found, growth from vulnerability, and spirituality in a frivolous world. Glier is also joined by the Hammond B3 talents of recording veteran Mitch Chakour (James Taylor, Bonnie Raitt, Joe Cocker, Richie Havens), saxophonist Joe Nerney (Stevie Wonder), guitarist Joe Boyle (Frank Manzi), and bassist Nick Cressotti who all complement Gliers spacious breathtaking sound. Gliers level of self-possession animates the performances as the soulfulness of his voice and integrity of his lyrics amplify the cry of the ordinary heart. A master of dynamics, Glier reduces the sound to silence with a blustering baritone then teases that silence with a fluttering falsetto. Seths four-octave range tastefully fills his performance with deep satisfying moments; elegant introspective moments, fervent moments of sadness, and streams of light that lift the listener just as the darkness begins to settle.
