Servant Life in the Confederate White House: A Themed Tour of the White House February 3, 2011

The White House of the Confederacy’s household staff was a diverse group of enslaved African-Americans, free blacks, Irish immigrants and a German florist. This tour will introduce visitors to the servants and describe the roles they played in the daily operation of the house.
