2005 marks the 150th anniversary of the founding of Northfield by John Wesley North. The yearlong series of events and commemorations begins Saturday, January 29 with a ?Walk across the River? beginning at 7 p.m. John and Ann North will greet their guests in front of the Ames Mill on the west bank of the Cannon River and escort them across the river to Bridge Square for a short ceremony. From there the revelers will proceed to the Grand Event Center for an evening of socializing and previewing the events planned for the year. Advance tickets for the Grand event are available from the Northfield Historical Society (507-645-9268) or the Sesquicentennial Office (507-663-1501).
