Two weeks ago I had dinner with Ray Kurzweil while I was in CA. I came back to VA proudly strutting my stuff, knowing I was the coolest geek on the block. I waited with baited breath for the local techies to bow before me in envy.
Sadly enough, my status was short-lived. My neighbor, Chris Bucchere, was recently nominated for a Technical Achievement Award at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas for his site, http://feedhaus.com. You can vote for his site and support our local hero.
Given that Ray probably doesn't remember my name, I think it is fair for me to turn over the title of king geek to Chris. Heck, I even voted for him and you too can vote for his site. In celebration of his nomination we're going to throw an informal shindig for him at Ireland's 4 Courts in Courthouse. Think of it as a geek rally, although I've taken the liberty of inviting a few marketing and VC friends as well. Feel free to extend the invite to others.
In the spirit of unprofitable Web 2.0 companies, you'll be able to drink all of the beer you can buy.
A great time to meet some other local geeks and send Chris off to Austin in style. Plus you can can vote for his site in advance.
Did I neglect to mention that you can can vote for his site?

I've heard "yes" from 10+ people who aren't registered at upcoming, so it should be a good techie crowd. Hope to see everyone there.
Indeed -- I'm looking forward to it!

I couldn't ask for a better write-up -- thanks, Kevin!
I don't mind sharing the title of "coolest geek on the block" with you.
