The gap between rich and poor continues to widen, with limited gains for middle and low-income earners. Amid this increasing disparity, what will become of the middle class? And is this inequality our most serious economic problem? At the helm of the California State Senate, Perata will address the challenges facing the nation at the outset of the 21st century and how both state and federal governments are preparing to address the needs of the middle class.
