The study of the software Scilab is incorporated in the syllabus of some of the Universities in Maharashtra for undergraduate courses. The software is very useful for teaching and learning of Mathematics at the undergraduate level. Also, Scilab is a good alternative to a commercial software like Matlab.
With this view, the current workshop will be useful to College teachers of Mathematics. Lectures and Lab sessions will be arranged to make participants familiar with Scilab. Focus will be on topics such as Linear Algebra and Numerical Analysis.

The workshop is intended for teachers of Mathematics in the colleges under University of Pune and Mumbai. There is a registration fee of Rs. 250/- per participant. Participants will get a CD containing Scilab and other Open Source Mathematical software.
Each college can send at most 2 teachers, one from B.Sc. (Comp. Sc.) and other from B.Sc. Mathematics. Admission will be on first come first serve basis. The number of seats is limited.
