Bi-monthly introduction and discussion for prospective patients and the general public of the latest surgical options for weight loss presented by the University of Arizona Department of Surgery and Surgical Weight Loss Program at University Medical Center.
Dr. Carlos Galvani is an internationally recognized expert in minimally invasive and robot-assisted surgical techniques. He comes to the UA from the renowned robotic and minimally invasive surgery program at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC).
Dr. Galvani will discuss the latest medical advancements in surgical weight loss, with topics including:
Obesity, including the medical definition of obesity, causes, impact on general health and potential health complications.
Medical, or non-surgical, treatment for obesity and morbid obesity.
Surgical treatment for morbid obesity, including types of procedures, complications and short-term and long-term outcomes.
