Topic 1: Electronic Health Records: Ms. Gia Feistel, a Doctoral Student at Central Michigan University, will discuss
Electronic Health Records (EHRs). The US Department of Human Services is currently working on programs to promote the
storage of health related information electronically with the object
of, by 2015, having ways for medical professionals and patients to securely share the patient’s EHRs. Ms. Feistel will discuss what is currently happening in the area of EHRs.She also is working on an online survey which will permit members to voluntarily express their views on EHRs.
Topic 2: Skype Revisited: Tom Callow will demonstrate Skype, the Voice Over IP service that lets you make free computer-to-computer “telephone calls” to anyone with a computer on the Internet as well as call anyone with a telephone. He will discuss some of the improvements to Skype in recent years, as well briefly consider how Microsoft’s acquisition of Skype may affect it in the future.
