Secret Lives - Exhibition June 25, 2009

Opening up Hampshire Diaries explores the hidden histories recorded in a few of the thousands of diaries held at Hampshire Record Office. Ranging from day-to-day life in Hampshire as recorded by a Basingstoke tailor and a country gentleman from Dummer; to the experiences of wartime life, both on campaign and at home. There are also extracts from travel diaries, showing the impressions made on Hampshire people by their visits to places ranging from the New Forest to the United States. Political diaries are also included, featuring descriptions of the 1892 election in Also and Petersfield, by the winning candidate.
