Come join us for a fireside chat with one of the UK's most successful technology entrepreneurs, Michael Birch, CEO of Bibo. The evening is covering a range of topics, including what's next for social networking, experiences of a serial entrepreneur, and how to raise finance for a start-up.
Michael Birch has been the driving force and chief architect behind the development of six consumer web sites over the last decade. In 2001, he co-founded BirthdayAlarm.com as a simple way to remember birthdays. The idea caught on, and today the site provides more than 45 million members an assortment of e-greeting cards and services. Following this, he started Ringo.com, one of the first social networking sites launched in 2003. The site was later sold to Tickle.com and is now owned by Monster.com.
Bebo is a global social networking website which aims to bring together like minded individuals who are creative, expressive and socially aware. Bebo has a membership of more than 35 million users world-wide, with five people registering for the site every second. Bebo ranks as the UK's second most engaging website after Google and MSN. Bebo won the People's Choice award in the Social Networking category at the 2006 Webby awards and was named as the number one search term in the Year-End Google Zeitgeist 2006. Bebo was founded in 2005 by Michael and Xochi Birch.
