Take a break from a cold winter’s night for a warm night of music and laughter as Heartland Animal Shelter welcomes back Peter Mayer for his Second Annual Concert to benefit the cats and dogs at Heartland. The concert is scheduled for Friday, January 23, 2009 at the Northbrook Theatre – Northbrook Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Avenue.
Doors open at 6:45 pm with refreshments provided by the Balanced Kitchen and Sweet Dreams Organic Bakery and the concert begins at 7:30 pm. Mayer, a Minnesota-based singer, is known for his whimsical, humorous music that breaks the boundaries of folk music. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door for adults and $10 for children. Reserve seating is available online at www.heartlandanimalshelter.net or by calling (847) 682-2286.
Enjoy appetizers, dessert, music, a raffle and shopping with the various event sponsors. Those sponsors currently include Ethical Planet – an all-vegan, organic, earth-friendly story – and Angelica’s Cards – who will be demonstrating how to use their animal communicator cards with proceeds from sales donated to the shelter. To hear Peter Mayer’s music and learn more about him, go to www.petermayer.net.
Proceeds benefit Heartland Animal Shelter, a no-kill humane organization dedicated to finding homeless animals their forever homes while educating the public on spaying and neutering their pets in order to decrease pet over population. Because Heartland is a 501(c)3 organization, all donations are tax deductible.
Further information about the concert, adoption, volunteer opportunities and other upcoming events is at www.heartlandanimalshelter.net. Pets available for adoption may be found at www.petfinder.com. The event is sponsored by the friends and volunteers of Heartland, which is located at 2975 Milwaukee Avenue in Northbrook.
