This second annual Ferry Night is sponsored by Friends of the Ferry to "celebrate the historical Canal Street Ferry." Fest-goers are encouraged to dress as fairies (or ferries) and party on both sides of the river. The festivities kick off with a Launch Party.
LAUNCH PARTY

5:00 - Ferry over to the Canal St. Landing & . . .
5:15 - Second Line along Waldenberg Park.
5:45 - Second line back (via the Ferry) to Algiers Point for the . .
6:00 - Blessing of the Ferry, State of the Ferry Address, & Complimentary Pink Ferrytinis.
6:30 - Second Line along the levee to the Costume Contest @ The Old Point Bar) where YOU could be crowned 2008’s "Algiers Fairy." (Or for the kids, "The Pedestrian Fairy.")
7:00 - Stick around the Old Point for Delfeayo Marsalis, the LSU Game and music by "I Tell You What" - or sashay back to the Dry Dock - or cruise on over to participating French Quarter pubs, music venues & eateries. Your costume (or the Key to the City) - available at FriendsoftheFerry.org - is your ticket to deals on both sides of the River.
Mardi Gras World has donated a bus to make the loop between Algiers Point's participating businesses, stopping at The Algiers Ferry Landing, The Dry Dock Cafe, The Crown & Anchor Pub, Gulf Pizza and the Old Point. From the Ferry Landing, "fairies" are encouraged to float over the river to enjoy deals and discounts by our French Quarter neighbors.
This year's Ferry Night was postponed twice due to the oil spill that occurred on the Mississippi River on June 23rd. "Holding Ferry Night without a ferry would be like having a birthday party when the Birthday Boy is out of town," said Friends of the Ferry president, Fay Faron.
