Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra: Kansas City Suite, an Epic Work by Benny Carter March 9, 2008

Saxophonist Benny Carter wrote countless works for the bands of Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Fletcher Henderson and others. Now the SRJO proudly presents what many consider Carter's most important creation, 'The Kansas City Suite.' Written in 1960, the 10-movement work was originally recorded by the Basie band, and includes a swinging mix of shuffles, jazz ballads, blues and more.
