Trumpeter Sean Jones is making a name for himself, and a move up the ladder as a player to watch. Now in his late 20's, Jones has developed into one of the finest, most expressive and technically commanding players on his instrument of choice. His tone is bright and his technique can be astonishing, thanks to his classical training. He can swing or glide through an arrangement... play the blues or switch into a funk and soul mode. His latest release Roots renews Jones' love for the sound that initially hooked him as a youngster: gospel music. Wynton Marsalis recently selected him to be lead trumpeter in the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, where he's proven himself as a soloist, inspiring bandleader, reliable ensemble contributor and dynamic force on the bandstand.
