An Evening with Simon Spalding & James Hendricks at the Whale & Ale
This dynamic duo of sea chanteys & acoustic folk music will appear at the Whale & Ale from 7;00 to 10:30 pm the evening of Friday, February 6, 2009.
Simon Spalding & James Hendricks are multi-instrumental performers with a repertoire that includes sea chanteys, Celtic music, early ragtime/jazz, & two hundred years of popular music.
Simon plays fiddle, Chinese erh-hu, is a world-renowned performer of maritime & historical songs. A 35-year music professional originally from California but now settled in North Carolina, he has influenced a number of California groups & performers. He has performed at concerts & festivals throughout North America & twelve European countries, & presently lives in North Carolina.
James Hendricks sings & plays concertina, tinwhistle, piano, & other instruments. He performs a variety of historical & maritime music, with special emphasis on music of the Civil War.
Simon is in Southern California for just the weekend of February 6-8. This will be Simon’s only concert appearance of this trip.
Admission is $10 or free with purchase of dinner. We promise an evening of lively entertainment, including some salty surprises!
