With the explosive growth of XML/Service-Oriented Architecture and Web 2.0 technologies like Ajax, Mash-ups, IM, VoIP, RSS, Wiki, iCalendar, etc., the Internet is emerging as a collaboration platform.

In the talk, Scott Dietzen, President and CTO of Zimbra.com, will discuss and demonstrate an open source architecture leveraging these new technologies to effectively integrate the traditional "push" experience of email/messaging with the "pull" experience of Web applications. Moreover, Scott will talk about the extension of this architecture for mobility, archiving, and compliance.
Prior to Zimbra, Scott was CTO of BEA Systems where he was the principal architect of the technology strategy for the WebLogic product family. He was also one of BEA's top spokespersons with customers, business partners, analysts, and the press. Scott came to BEA in 1998 via the acquisition of WebLogic, a pioneer in Java and web application technology. He is widely credited with helping put together the J2EE standard, launching the Web application server category, launching the Java Community Process, and driving the web services collaboration with Microsoft and IBM.
