Speaker: Ronald Weissman, Partner at Apax Partners

Ronald Weissman is a partner at Apax Partners and a member of the Tech & Telecom Group with more than twenty-five years of high-technology operating experience. His focus is on U.S. and cross-border investment opportunities in software, networking and business service technologies and on portfolio company development across Apax Partners' global network. He has served as advisor to or board member of many other Apax Partners portfolio companies including, BlueArc, HAL Knowledge Systems, Icarian, INEA, Lexiquest, Mesh Networks, Milcom Technologies, Planview, Promethean, and Visalign. Before joining Apax Partners he served as vice president of strategy and marketing for Verity, the global leader in information retrieval. During his tenure, Verity was recognized by the Turnaround Management Association as the 1999 large-company turnaround of the year. Prior to Verity, Ron spent more than five years at NeXT Computer, where he managed Corporate and European marketing. Prior to NeXT, he advised or had senior operating roles with many private-and public-sector organizations. Ron has published and lectured extensively on software trends and was one of three industry leaders profiled in PriceWaterhouseCooper's 2003-2005 Technology Forecast. Active in the venture-capital and high-tech communities, he is an advisor to the Entrepreneurs Foundation, the VC Task Force, the Golden State Capital Network, and BASEX, a market research firm. A member of Phi Beta Kappa and a Fulbright Scholar, he received his BA, MA, and PhD degrees from University of California, Berkeley He is an overseer of the University of Pennsylvania Libraries and an associate trustee of the university. He is also a member of the San Francisco Opera's Medallion Society and a member of its corporate committee.
