Seventh Annual Sculpture Exhibit Abstracting the Figure
Opens in Lakewood
Lakewood Cultural Center is pleased to present the seventh Annual Sculpture Exhibition Abstracting the Figure. Our honored juror this year is Reven Marie Swanson. “As juror, I assembled work that demonstrates an exploratory representation of the human figure. It’s through artist’s exploration of contemporary forms and materials that defines modern-day culture,” she said. The exhibit will run in the North Gallery of the Lakewood Cultural Center at 470 Allison Parkway in Lakewood through August 29, 2009
Four achievement awards have been presented to sculptors Harold Linke, Tom Ware, Lloyd H. Anderson and Bruce Gueswel as part of the exhibit during the artist reception on May 29.
In conjunction with Abstracting the Figure, juror Reven Marie Swanson will present a selection of her own work in the South Gallery in the Lakewood Civic Center, 480 S. Allison Parkway. Swanson is a graduate of University of Colorado Boulder and has studied under the kinetic metal sculptor Robert Mangold. Swanson’s work resides in a significant number of public and private collections both nationally and internationally. She is represented by Artyard in Denver.
