We put improv in their scripts, they put scripts in our improv.
Hilarity ensues.
The most original show in Denver….
We put improv in their script. During the first act, the Legit Players perform a fully prepared theatrical scene without the Dishwater Blondes present. Then the Dishwater Blondes enter and the scene is replayed, only this time one of the characters is recast with a “Blonde”. Hilarity ensues.
They put scripts in our improv. In the second act the audience gives the “Legits” page numbers from monologue books. They read them ice cold. The “Blondes” listen to the monologues and then jump in and improvise based on material heard in the monologues. The result? A crazy mix of written and made up theater!
Created in 2006 the Dishwater Blondes are a rare all-female cast specializing in character-driven, long-form improv. With over 45 years of collective improv experience, the Dishwater Blondes have been performing their brand of fast-paced, character-driven improv nationally and locally. They organically move from one scene to the next, pivoting on a character. Always surprising, theatrical and, oh yea, funny.
Dishwater Blondes feature Kathleen Boland, Natalie Kilkenny, Sarah Kirwin, Cindy Laudadio Hill, Britt Swenson and Nanna Ogburn Thompson.
The Legit Players are a collection of "traditional" Denver stage actors that prepare theater scenes and monologues to be merged with improv from the Dishwater Blondes!
