Followed by Q&A with filmmaker Sean McAllister
An award-winning portrait of Iraq by Sean McAllister, who spent eight months with Baghdad's most famous pianist, Samir Peter, reduced to playing in a hotel bar.
Once Iraq's foremost pianist, today Samir plays in a half-empty hotel bar to an audience of contractors, mercenaries and journalists. In his heyday he described himself as the 'Liberace of Baghdad.' Now he sleeps in a bricked up hotel room, too afraid to cross town to his seven-bedroomed mansion.
His wife and two of his children have left for the US while Samir stays on with Sahar, his pro-Baathist daughter, who hates America for what it has done to her country.
