Claudio Maffioletti is an Italian photographer who has specialized in `street photography`, or `Passing by`, as he calls this theme, one that has preoccupied him since 1996. With an interest in informal art and photography movements and a curiosity about the role of the media (TV, photography, advertising) in society, he shows portraits of some all-time greats from the Indian movie screen (from Dilip Kumar in Devdas to Nargis in Mother India, Amitabh Bachchan in Sholay to Raj Kapoor in Shree 420.) Shot directly from the television screen, the pictures address the role of the media in reinforcing Indian values while their blurred rendition distances the spectator. Contact: 66223737/ 66588997.
