Science Lecture: George Dyson January 30, 2007

George Dyson is a scientific historian, the son of Freeman Dyson, brother of Esther Dyson, and the grandson of Sir George Dyson. He returns to Town Hall with a talk about John Van Neumann, the founder of the modern digital computer. Dyson focuses on the period of Van Neumann’s life as he was developing the foundations of computing at Princeton University during the 1930s-50s. Hungarian-born Van Neumann was one of greatest scientific minds of his era and a character of Falstaffian proportions. The Presented with University Book Store.
