SCI-FI-LONDON is the UK’s leading genre event and an internationally recognised launch pad for genre movies. At each festival we have at least a dozen UK premieres.
The festival is now in its 9th year and will take place Wed 28th April – Mon 3rd May 2010 at The Apollo Piccadilly Circus Cinema, London’s most luxurious cinema.
Minority Report
The festival started back in 2002 and the big movie of the year was Minority Report. One of the better film adaptations of Philip K. Dick ‘s work, we are pleased to see it finally get a release on Blu-Ray, surely the format of the future?
In Washington, D.C., in the year 2054, murder has been eliminated. The future is seen and the guilty punished before the crime has ever been committed. ‘Pre-Cogs’, three psychic beings, whose visions of future murders have never been wrong; suddenly see Anderton, the Chief of the unit murder a man called Leo Crow. Anderton (Tom Cruise) must now go on the run to prove his innocence.
This is an interesting take on the theme of how life might be in 2050 and beyond; Spielberg’s vision of advertising and home entertainment seems very like our current reality.
As it is set in 2054 it seems fitting for us to present a free screening from the Blu-Ray disk. Forget home cinema, come and see it on a really big screen and then buy it from our sponsor, Play.com :)
Tickets are free but you need to register.
