Long ago, in a time before computer effects provided children's entertainment, Jim Henson was using good ol' fashioned puppetry (or is that 'muppetry'?) to bring his fantastical tales to life.
Sarah (Jennifer Connelly) is a tantrum-throwing teen whose baby brother, Toby, gets on her nerves while she has to babysit him - again. She wishes goblins would come and take her bothersome sibling away. This, of course, comes true and she only has 13 hours to get through a labyrinth to retrieve the baby before Jareth, the Goblin King, (David Bowie) keeps the baby for ever.
Although this classic '80s' fairy-tale has not aged as well as it might, especially poor Mr Bowie's costume, the ambitious Terry Jones' (Monty Python) script is still as enjoyable as ever.
This is a free family screening for children under 16 with a parent or guardian. No unacompanied adults!
