Come hear Schubert's exquisite Serenade for strings and winds and Stravinsky's evocative Soldier's Tale. Schubert's combination of clarinet, bassoon and horn with strings builds upon Beethoven's classical model exploring up new possibilities for gorgeous melodies that only a lieder composer could accomplish. Stravinsky takes members from each family of the orchestra to create everything from virtuoso violin passages to sounds of a band to chorales to a rag-time dance to create a 20th Century neo-classical approach. Complete with narration Stravinsky tells a story of a soldier's battle with the devil.
Tickets: Adult: $28, Senior $26, Student $7.
