The Onion and New Yorker Contributor Steve Macone headlines SMART-ernative, featuring standup comedians who are more cerebral than what you'll find at comedy clubs, and totally off-the-wall. Accompanied by a handful of like-minded rising comic stars, Macone hits on non-traditional topics like: The personification of time, the metaphysics of feeling numb, Borders Rewards cards, Magic: The Gathering, Ben Franklin, ducks, the bloody meat guy at the grocery store, religion as jellybeans, and this really great old lady face that hurts to look at. Steve has performed around the U.S., Ireland and England and appeared on NPR. His humor writing appears regularly in national publications and was called “Astonishingly good” by former New York Times critic Renata Adler. Showtime is 8 p.m., and tickets are $18 ($17 for students/seniors, $15 for members). For tickets, call (508) 405-2787
