Savoy Rhythm Section plays at City BBQ Cook-Off June 27, 2009

It’s the good ol’ Summertime and what better time to enjoy BBQ, drinks, and music from the Savoy Rhythm Section.This Saturday, 12-4:30 we’ll be playing at the City BBQ Cook-off at the State Fairgrounds. It will be held at the African-American Pavilion from 9am to 5pm (take the San Pedro entrance and head east til you come to the first building on your right.)
BBQ chefs from all over the Southwest will be competing. Besides BBQ, drinks, and moon-walks (for the kids), we will be playing Ragtime, Acoustic Blues, Dixieland, Americana and generally having a good time. Sit in the shade next to the stage and let us take you back to the crazy music of the 20s and 30s when the Depression and Prohibition coincided with the music of Fats Waller and Blind Blake and the biggest movies of the day featured the Marx Brothers and Laurel and Hardy. ph 505-554-7841
