Sweet Spot Productions teams up with newly opened NYC club “Kiss & Fly” to expand its buzz worthy “Save The Disco” monthly party.
Little Louie Vega (Masters At Work) and Walter V (ex-Studio 54) to perform at highly anticipated kick-off party on February 7th 2008
Sweet Spot Productions was formed to offer NYC socialites, partygoers and creatures of the night with a unique nightlife experience. Influenced by what the disco-era means to New York City in terms of entertainment and vibe, the founders decided for their first concept to launch a modern-version of those infamous NYC legendary parties with their “Save The Disco” monthly event. Since the launch of the project, Disco icon Cerrone (www.cerrone.net) has accepted to be the Godfather of "Save The Disco" contributing in the creative direction of the event and attending the parties whenever his hectic schedule permits.
Throughout the months, several great talents have performed at the Save The Disco, such as Jay-J, Neil Aline, Dj Smash, DJ Angola, Metro Area, Lisa Shaw, Franky Boissy, as well as David Stepanoff, the resident DJ of the world-famous party Disco Queen in Paris.
To continue building on the potential of its concept, theSweet Spot team decided to move its monthly residency to Kiss & Fly, A new nightlife gem which opened up in the Meat Packing District last month. The kick-off party will take place on Thursday February 7th, alongside a Fashion Week / Allure Magazine party hosted which will take place earlier in the night at the venue. The club is perfectly designed for the “Save The Disco” residency. Kiss & Fly’s sound system, designed by Steve Dash of Integral Sound, is one of the best and technologically advanced in Manhattan. Twenty-eight VIP tables also line the room and include their own “private” dance floor that is raised behind the table, where strategically placed spotlights allow patrons to become performers. The room will be prepped up “disco style” for the occasion with a giant disco ball outside and inside, a LED color-changing dance floor, lollipops giveaways, wall projections, costumed staff and dancers. The patrons are highly encouraged to dress up too.
The DJ line up for February 7th will feature Walter V and Little Louie Vega. Walter V started his career in 1975 out of sheer love for dance music. Born in Belgium, but raised in “boogie down” The Bronx, the teenager Walter V attended dance parties nightly and started to perform in local clubs. It was at one of these gigs that Walter V. caught the ear of pre-famous Steve Rubell. Recognizing Walter V’s gift for getting people on the floor and staying there, Rubell invited him to play at one of his earlier clubs in Queens. Based on his success during the Spring of 1977, he invited Walter V and other great New York City Djs into the legendary Studio 54 nightclub. Walter V continued to play at the club during its golden era, entertaining elite socialites along with the masses. For princes, princess, famous artists, pop stars, and diplomats it was a party every night and Walter V controlled the party as resident DJ one night a week through his soundtrack. DJ Walter V, along with the talents of many other DJ’s of the time, helped form the sound known as "Disco". As a headlining DJ for the night, Little Louie Vega will treat patrons with one of his legendary house sets filled with disco influenced. Whether he is DJing by himself or acting as part of Masters at Work, Little Louie Vega is a permanent part of the history of the New York City house music and club scene. Vega made a name for himself as a DJ in the New York City club circuit spinning in the historical clubs Studio 54, Devil's Nest, and Hearthrob. Both artists will guarantee a very solid and quality soundtrack for this kick-off event at Kiss & Fly.
For 2008, Save The Disco ventures beyond NYC, with a successful monthly event held in Paris (Aqua Club) last year, and a slew of one-offs and residencies in the pipeline in various top entertainment venues worldwide. The team is also working on a WMC 2008 event in Miami this year.
