Sharks are the focus of this family program.Students will delve deeper into the realm of the shark and discover more about this diverse group of animals that strike fear in the hearts of many. Students will learn about some of the sharks amazing adaptations as well as dispel some myths and discover many truths about these cartilagenous creatures.Participants learn about shark movement by making their own shark hat that they can swim around the room. Stories, games and activities also help students explore some of the varied lifestyles of the more than 360 different types of sharks. A live shark visitor in the classroom gives students a chance to touch one of these amazing creatures and realize that sharks are beautiful animals to be respected rather than feared.These programs are developed for four to six year olds with a parent or chaperone. Because this class is specifically designed for four to six year olds, any younger or older siblings of the child should stay at home and cannot be admitted to the class. These programs allow students to delve into the ocean world through interactive, hands on programming. Child/adult interaction is encouraged in the class, aiding in the students discovery while fostering parent child relationships.
