Satori Trova, a Washington, D.C.-based experimental rock band that has been gaining a steady following across the area, will bring its synthesis of soul and indie rock to its first headlining show at the Rock and Roll Hotel (1353 H Street, N.E.) on Thursday, September 1, in a lineup that also features Virginia band IMU URI, and the Boston-based electronic duo A Bit Cagey making their D.C. debut.
Formed in 2010, Satori Trova has played a number of warmly received gigs over the last year at the Red Palace, Rock and Roll Hotel and other DC venues. The band’s sound – described as a fusion of psychedelic rock, trip-hop and R&B – is as diverse as its multi-generational lineup, which features 22-year-old Liora Valero’s sultry, mature vocals, veteran musician Tommi Nathan’s carefully layered bass and Avi Elisar’s solid lead guitar, supported by powerhouse drummer David Ray. Stephen Baker on keyboard and Regina Fiorentini on saxophone round out the band’s unique sound. The band is currently recording their debut EP, due to be released in Fall 2011.
