Sanctuary – RBS Wildlife Awards 2008 December 5, 2008

collaboration with Sanctuary Magazine and supported by Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) in the service of nature and the arts. Alongside the photo exhibition will be the annual Sanctuary-RBS Wildlife Awards ceremony. The awards were instituted to recognise and reward `Earth Heroes` -- men and women who are not afraid to stand up and be counted in the defence of our wildlife and environment. Over the past nine years, the Earth Heroes have ranged from a rickshaw-puller in Bharatpur who is one of India`s finest bird watchers to a coconut cutter from Gujarat who spent all his time protecting the nests of vultures that might otherwise have been harmed by his own colleagues. Of course a number of awards have also gone out to forest officers, field biologists, leading wildlife conservationists and even young children.
