Sunday, July 25, Doors 4pm, Show 5pm
Steve Kimock will join long-time friend and collaborator Greg Anton for the first 2010 ZERO concert experience on the west coast. The all ages event is slated to take place at the San Geronimo Valley Community Center on Sunday, July 25th and will feature many guest musicians, including ZERO keyboardist and vocalist Chip Roland.
The quintessential San Francisco jamband, a pioneer of its genre, ZERO, is a hyrbid of experimental psychedelic rock with classic rock undertones. Kimock and Greg Anton formed ZERO in 1984 and for the two decades the project would feature some of the Bay Area's best talent including John Cipollina, Bobby Vega, Martin Fierro, Pete Sears, Chip Roland, Judge Murphy, Donna Godchaux (Greatful Dead) and Melvin Seals (JGB). ZERO released four highly-collected albums, hundreds of live recordings.
Lead guitarist Steve Kimock is distinguished for his incomparable approach to the art of guitar; his ability to gently tug a flurry of notes with tonal precision is breathtaking. Aside from ZERO and leading his own bands (SKB, KVHW, Crazy Engine), Kimock has performed alongside the likes of Bruce Hornsby (and can be heard on two of Hornsby's releases), Jerry Garcia and all members of the Grateful Dead (including stints with Ratdog, Phil & Friends, Rhythm Devils, The Other Ones), as well The Allman Brothers, Bonnie Raitt, and many more.
Drummer Greg Anton is a 25 year veteran of the San Francisco music scene. One of the original founding members of both the Heart of Gold Band and ZERO, Anton has performed over 1300 concerts and has been featured on at least twenty-five studio albums. A musical drummer with powerful beats, a keen ear for timing and a playful approach, he has been an integral piece of the psychedelic music scene since its inception.
The outdoor festival will include affordable organic fare, unique vendors and for children activities including a jumpee and playground.
