The San Francisco Winemakers Market is the newest Farmer’s Market in San Francisco. The market will be open every Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Del Monte Square, next to The Cannery at Fisherman’s Wharf. The market provides the people of San Francisco with a local forum to connect with wine and winemakers on a much more personal level in a farmer’s market setting.
San Francisco Winemakers Market is an initiative sponsored by the City of San Francisco and the Fisherman’s Wharf Community Benefits District along with the participation of the five urban wine tasting rooms along San Francisco’s Wine Walk. The market is designed to further Mayor Gavin Newsome’s initiative to “help to build community unity” in San Francisco by providing the people of San Francisco interesting activities at little or no cost.
Admission to the market is free to the public. People can come weekly to connect with wineries, learn about their wines and purchase their wines for the week. In addition, with the one-time purchase of an eco-friendly reusable 6-pack wine carrier for $20, shoppers will be provided with glassware to sample wines at the market before purchasing. Proceeds from the sale of the wine carrier will support the winemakers market initiative and a portion will be donated to local charities and non-profit organizations supporting sustainable farming. Consumers will be encouraged to return to the market on a regular basis with their reusable wine carrier to do their wine shopping.
