San Francisco Symphony: Bychkov Conducts Shostakovich September 14, 2012

Written to commemorate the 1905 Russian Revolution, Shostakovich's Symphony No. 11 evokes the passion, violence, and pain of a people's fight against tyranny. With its cinematic sweep and use of Russian revolutionary songs, the symphony depicts some of the pivotal moments and places of the 1905 Revolution.
