PRESENTATION:
A Public Dialogue about Supporting Public Education in San Francisco

Public Engagement for Public Schools started with a small group of people committed to fostering public dialogue to strengthen our community’s capacity to support public schools. We believe that creating opportunities for open, well-facilitated, well-organized dialogue will help San Franciscans to renew our commitment, as individuals and as civic actors, to good, equitable public education for all our
children; attract people to live and raise families in San Francisco by elevating and expanding broad-based public support for public schools; and promote pride, investment and a shared sense of responsibility in and for our public schools. For the past six months we have conducted brief interviews
with local leaders, educators, and active parents, to gather information that now provides the basis for a proposal about what a wider civic dialogue will eventually look like: how it will be shaped, when it will take place and where, and what we expect to achieve.
