Working from The Stand-up Comedy Workbook, which you receive as part of your tuition, you will learn how to cut through writer's block, build a premise, and generate endless punch lines for that premise until you find the one that rocks. Even professional comedians with years of experience take this class to improve existing skills and push themselves in new creative directions. In this workshop, you will learn to apply the Joke Diagram, association lists, organic development, characters and POVs to create your own material. You'll perform in class and receive valuable feedback from the instructor and working comedians. We will work one-on-one with you and your act and then you will perform at the Comedy Co-op’s Warehouse Theatre.

You will learn:
o Multiple material generation techniques
o Choosing powerful topics
o Riffing (improvisation)
o Storytelling
o Building audience rapport
o Multiple perspectives (POVS)
o Finding your "style"
o Eliminating self-criticism
o Dealing with stage fright
o Rehearsal Process
o One on one writing session
o In-class and public performance
