The fifth South Asian Literary and Theatre Arts Festival (SALTAF) will be held on October 1-2, 2005 at the Baird Auditorium, National Museum of Natural History at the Smithsonian Institution from 10am-5pm. This event is sponsored by the Network of South Asian Professionals of Washington DC (NetSAP-DC) and the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Program. This two-day event includes film screenings, literary panel discussions, author readings, and book signings by renowned South Asian artists including Deepa Mehta, Anita Desai, MG Vassanji, Shyam Selvadurai, Nadeem Aslam, Hina Haq, Imad Rahman, Vijay Seshadri, Uma Krishnaswami, Anjali Banerjee, Vishnu Mathur, and Mitra Sen. Be one of the first to watch Deepa Mehta?s highly anticipated controversial film Water. This artistic extravaganza is free and open to the public.
